IMPACT AND FUNDING
Funding
Disability Skiing Wales charge a small membership fee and as small as charge as possible for each ski session. These fees cover some of our core costs such as the fees to use the ski slope, insurance and Snowsports Wales Affiliation. All other costs rely on fundraising, including purchasing and replacing equipment, training courses for volunteers and events.
Various Grant Aiding Bodies and companies have been very generous to us over many years. Without their help and assistance we would not be able to afford the specialised equipment or training we need to operate.
Listed below are organisations that have financially supported Disability Skiing Wales over many years:

Why support us?
‘I’ve been bringing my son Mabon to Disability Skiing Wales for just over a decade. He loves coming skiing and myself and his mum and really proud of what he has achieved with help from the club. I have also recently had my first ski lesson!’
‘We’ve been attending Disability Skiing Wales with my daughter Annabeth for the last four years. Annabeth has a rare genetic condition and the volunteers at the club worked with us as a family to overcome plenty of barriers to her learning to ski. This has given us the confidence to go on family ski holiday which I never thought would be possible and which Annabeth loves! I’ve also now become a volunteer ski instructor and sit ski guide myself.’
‘Thank you for the chance to try skiing. I didn’t know it was something I could do before seeing the club. I think it’s really important that things are accessible and people with disabilities can get to do the same things as everyone else.’
We are very grateful to our latest donor Debs Pollard for donating a Kart Ski adaptor to enable to cart ski to be used one handed. This is going to be life changing for one of our skiers getting him back on the slope after loss of functioning in one of his arms.
We are currently raining funds for:
A new seat for one of our sit skis to provide better head and neck support for skiers who need this.
A new disabled access park bench to replace the old one which had sadly become unsafe.
Subsidising the cost of ski sessions to members so we can avoid passing on an increase in costs from the ski slope to our members.
Club events and subsidised trips to the Manchester snow centre.
Training courses and updates for volunteers.
